It was okay I've been there many times in the past and I liked it better than but it was okay but kind of salty kind of bland
El charro should not offer delivery service or give you the option to order online if they won’t even staff a driver. I would’ve been understanding had they called and told me that this was the case. Instead I got a confirmation email saying my order was accepted and then within ten minutes got one saying the order was cancelled. I had to call to find out why. Customer service is very important and a simply call would go a long way.
This is now a must-stop restaurant for us when we visit Prescott. The food is everything I love in a Mexican restaurant with very good service. I highly recommend the El Tango Special with green chili but everything we've tried has been good.
It's okay. Inexpensive, but unauthentic. Salsa is bland. Drinks in the cantina are fine. Staff is good. I come here often... Easy and inexpensive, but not my favorite Mexican food in Prescott.
Good food and quick service. The salsa is just ok.
Not great sadly. Wasn't disgusting. I know Mexican food and this place was mediocre at best. Not much else to say. Waiter was a nice kid. I tipped way too much for the food I got but I didn't feel like shorting the waiter when it's not his fault the food isn't great. It's rare these days that I find a place that doesn't do it for me but every once in a while....
The place has sentimental value to my family but it does have good food
Uninspired Americanized Mexican food. Chips seemed store bought, salsa tepid, slow service and long wait for food on a slow day. Enchiladas were terrible - bland. Chicken tortilla soup was good. Will not be going back unless they improve the food. Atmosphere is historic ... So definitely has a chance
Loved the salsa & moonshine marg! Beans were delicious. Lots of regulars which is a great sign! Only complaint- the cheese crisp wasn't crispy. Great service!
Wish I could give it less than one star. Horrible service. Servers wearing dirty clothes. Saw a dishwasher go behind the bar and serve himself. Waited for almost an hour and still didn't get our food.
Salsa is canned tomato sauce with no spice at all. Even Taco Bell would be better. Don't go!
This was our 3rd time going and always the same, poor service. We went for a birthday dinner, got there at 5:00The waiter couldn't keep the orders straight, refills on soda were non existent, and top it off half the table got their order (but took along time), 2 people at the table didn't get their order and at 7:30, 1 meal came and 1 meal the waiter said they were out of. So at 8:00 the waiter brings a To-go meal for the one that didn't get their meal and said he took 50% off and threw in a few chips and salsa for the trouble. Then the bills came that had to be refigured because they were mixed up.We paid cash to make sure nobody got a hold of our credit card and further the mess.Never is along time, but I will never go back.
Food and service were excellent. Requested fast service and got it. I've been here before &have never been disappointed.
Used to be a good place. Has gone progressively downhill for the last 10 years. It's sad to watch it happen being a local. It has such great potential for its history, atmosphere and location but won't go back until food quality changes.Ownership perhaps needs an update or perhaps a Mexican food obsessed hipster needs to revamp it. Haha!
Favorite Mexican food, good, fast service.
Omg what a bad experience, no soap in bathroom dispenser so I was thinking employees probably didn't wash their hands. I ordered huevos rancheros, a pretty simple dish. When I was served the eggs were burned. It was pathetic just inedible. I removed the eggs and when the waitress (who seemed very stressed out) asked about my meal I told her it was not very good. She offered to replace it but also commented that it was the 1st time that the cook had made that dish. I didn't really want to be poisoned so are the beans rice and tortillas. Do not eat here anyone who cant cook eggs should not be in a kitchen.
Sorely disappointed. Chips and salsa and margarita were the best part of the meal. Tortilla soup was inedible. We sent it back. We then ordered relleno, red Chile, which was mediocre at best. Brittany, our waitress, was very nice and the service was good. We dined here last year and the food has really gone downhill since then. We won't be back.
Decent service and atmosphere. The food is edible but with so many better places to eat downtown. I would suggest going somewhere else.
Second trip there finding the door still locked! But, just as we turned away the door opened and we had a fine meal. Great atmosphere, but pricey.
We love this place! Skinnyrita and stuffed avocado!Yum ! Great service!
Good portioned food with decent quality. Staff seemed short handed but where caring. Ultimately a nice spot.
Decent enough take on Mexican food. I had the combo plate that included a chili relleno and an enchilada. I loved the sauce on both - but I am generally easy to please in that department. My wife got a bean burrito chimi style that was less successful. Service was prompt but on the forgetful side. (I ordered a beer that never arrived.)
Food was amazing!!! Me and my family really enjoyed eating here. Our waitress was super nice!!! I'm Mexican so I'm very picky about my food but this place was very authentic.
The service was slow but the waiter was really nice, patient and you could tell he was being stretched thin. The food wasn't terrible but it was insanely salty. I had the shrimp burrito. The rice that comes with it oddly had little to no salt so it was bland.
Great service and great drinks! A big surprise once you go in, interior doesn't match the exterior. Comfortable and very clean. Great food! Tacos and enchiladas are awesome!
This place was great. I was worried when we got in because there was a letter from the ow er on each menu explaining that they had to increase prices on beef items due to cost increases from suppliers.Ignore that letter. When they use three times the meat of any other place, I don't care about an extra buck. I don't care about an extra five. Well worth every dime....and I am a cheapskate.
Excellent customer service. With so many other options I should've gone someplace else. Cool atmosphere
We had a great meal and friendly staff, nice place, good job!
Our family ate there yesterday again. Our server was amazing. Helpful and attentive. Our food was great and our drinks were good. We love going to this restaurant, and recommend it highly.
Been coming here for years with no issues but lately the food has been good but service is so terrible that I can't even consider to dine in anymore!! All the servers SUCK!! You will wait 40+ minutes just to get menus and order turned in- cooks are awesome though, once the idiots finally take our order the food comes out super fast and is always good. Owners Amanda and her husband please fire your servers and get new! We want our awesome Mexican Resteraunt back to normal!
Love this quaint underrated Prescott treasure! Delicious food, friendly personable service & all right off the Square. You can't leave Prescott without trying the red chili tacos or mouthwatering chimichangas!!!
I jus had lunch here for the first time. Great food & customer service. Large portions and a wonderful ambience. I will not go to another Mexican restaurant in Prescott again. Yum!!
Unbelievably rude service. I was literally refused service by the older "gentle"man at the bar because I dared to want the counter at the bar (where I was about to be served food, mind you) wiped between the prior customer and myself. Actually, what displeased the bartender (the young fellow said he was the OWNER?!?!?) was the fact that I asked for a napkin so I could wipe the spot myself because he wouldn't. Unbelievable that they're still in business with an owner like that. My weekly visits for lunch will be going elsewhere. If they were the only restaurant in town I'd pack a lunch.
Surprise! I hadn't been in here in years. We decided to forgive past negatives and give them another shot. So very glad we did. The stuffed Pablano peppers and shredded beef tacos were very well executed. We'll be back to explore the menu some more soon.
Great restaurant to eat Mexican food.
My family has been frequenting El Charro since I was a little girl (I'm 53). It's a family tradition and this visit was just as perfect as every one before and we're sure in the future! If you don't do El Charro you are missing out from the exceptional service to the sinfully tasty food!!
I would give zero stars if I could this place is horrible and any of my fellow Mexicans NEVER go here the food is horrible and about an hour and a half wait. After this rant I wish there was negative stars😡😡😡👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿🇲🇽🇲🇽this restaurant let’s mexico down. Not even my dog would eat this that’s how bad it was.🤦♂️😡😡
Great food. Real authentic! Great service!
WORST Mexican food ever, they need to take authentic off their sign, this is the farthest from authentic I have had in a long time, I know authentic... this is not it! Meat had zero flavor, salsa was canned or jarred, chips were storebouhjt and a little stale, the rice- oh my god it was so terrible! Not good food for the price, service was good, I said to my family right away, the place has no Hispanic people in sight, won’t be authentic, boy was I right on that!
Recipes have changed since I was a kid and visited here last but I still really enjoyed my shredded beef enchiladas (those haven't changed). My son had the tacos which he took only one bite of and the salsa was okay but definitely used to be better. Overall it was a great experience.
Great food. Love the carne asada burritos
The food was delicious. The salsa was fine for me, not sure what the others are talking about. Chips were average but they weren't bad. Waiter was super friendly and food was served fast. I definitely recommend checking out this place. I almost passed it up due to some of the other reviews, I'm glad I didn't. Will definitely check this place out again next time I'm up in Prescott.
Great location delicious menu and the servers were very attentive. Their prices are good and it's located within the historic Prescott area. Two thumbs up!
I love El Charro, we go there quite often the food is great and Chris the bartender is wonderful. He's always friendly and outgoing. Our food has always been hot and that's our go-to place for Mexican food
I like their Steak Frajitas and they have great Re-fried Beans. The Cheese Enchiladas are good and I love the atmosphere. Word to the wise do not order the guacamole appetizer for $9.75 .. not even a whole Avocado and it's not the good fatty kind like Haas or Bacon or Reed, it's the watery kind. Great location in the heart of Prescott 1/2 a block from the Court House.
Is ok not bad normal tipical mex food , shredded beef tacos need little more meat in them.
Atmosphere was very nice. Service was great ! The food was poor.
Ok, not great. The avocado adventure, truly was! Just avocados and you make it with the stuff they give you.
The food is good, but owner tells the Bartender [right in front of me] to "pack my glass full of ice because it makes a better drink that way". I was drinking a Vodka & Cranberry. I looked at him and said "do you think I'm an idiot" ???
